Based on Umberto Eco's novel, "The Name of The Rose" is set in 13th century Europe. In a secluded monastery, a monk dies in a mysterious manner, his fellow monks get scared and superstition takes over. An investigating monk, William of Baskerville (Sean Connery), is sent to dispel the supertition and find the true reason of death. As the investigation progresses, William of Baskerville and his assistant (Christian Slater) are faced with further mysteries and yet more unexplained deaths. And secrets that the Church wanted to keep slowly come to be known.
