In the 1989 Academy Award winner for Best Picture Miss Daisy Werthan (Jessica Tandy) is an aging southern widow in 1948. When she runs over the neighbor's wall backing out of her driveway she is forced to hire chauffeur, Hoke Colburn (Morgan Freeman) takes the job. Miss Daisy is a headstrong willful woman, who has little interest in being driven by someone else, but her son Boolie (Dan Akroyd) hires Hoke himself so that she can't fire him. As Miss Daisy gradually learns to accept her chauffeur, she also begins to become more aware of things going on in the world, and how Hoke is treated differently due to his race. The two eventually grow old together and come to more accepting of each other, both learning in the process.
