The twelve Colonies of Man are very close to finalizing a truce with their formidable enemies the Cylons, a race of cold and calculating machines. The Cylons and mankind have been at war for centuries and Commander Adama (Lorne Green) the head of Galactica is very sceptical at the intentions of the deadly machines. After advising the council leaders of his fears, Adama is assured by Baltar (John Colicos), the peace ambassador between the Cylons and the human race, that the truce will be honoured. The Cylons attack one of Galactica’s patrols and then turn their attention to the fleet. Once the fleet is destroyed, leaving only Galactica in a position to defend itself, the Cylons concentrate their efforts on the colonies with the intention of destroying mankind. Galactica sends a message for all surviving ships to converge and form a convoy to seek out a new home.
